In 2001, Douglas garnered first prize in oils in the National Veterans Creative Art Festival, was 2nd in 2004 and again in 2005
In 2004 Douglas and Lilly Miley were honored in a retrospective for their work at Prescott Center for the Arts
In 2005 and 2006, he placed in the Top 100 in the National Arts for the Parks competition
In 2006 and 2007 and 2008 he received the People’s Choice Award at the annual Phippen Western Art Show and Sale Memorial Day weekend in Prescott, AZ
Douglas was featured in Grand Canyon Celebration of art 2009 Modern Masters
He was honored as one of the 20 artists invited to participate in the first Grand Canyon Modern Masters Invitational, a juried art competition and show in Sept. 2009
